A bromeliad native to Brazil which can reach up to 1.5m high and wide. These bromeliads can be slow to flower, sometimes taking up to 15 years in habitat, however in our garden we have found they flower in less than half that time. The flower spike reaches up to 2.5m high and carries many flowers. Leaves are a deep burgundy colour. These plants can tolerate a variety of locations ranging from full sun to full shade. Plants exposed to the sun colour up more deeply.
