Mount Lewis Palms are Australian (north eastern Queensland) and grow to a max height of approximately 12m at maturity. They have purplish crown shaft, gives way to the elegant leaves. They feature a thick single trunk that grows quickly in New Zealand. However the slowest growing of the Archontophonenix species.
A fantastic palm for a small home garden as a centerpiece in the tropical garden.
One of its common names is purple king palm (The epithet is Latin for ‘purplish’).
Mature trucks attain 15-18m in habitat and 12m in cultivation.
They usually shoe diameters of 45cm.
The crown shaft is 1.2m tall, slightly bulging at the base.
The leaf crown is no more than 6m wide and 4,5m tall.
The leaves 1.8-3m long.
Leaf colour is bright grassy to deep green above, silvery or greyish green beneath.
